Meals on Wheels Volunteers: |

Meals on
Wheels of West Los Angeles, is a non-profit, volunteer community service
program that provides nutritious meals to homebound individuals living on the
west side of Los Angeles. Monday thru
Friday at 10:15 am volunteers meet at our office. Eight teams of two are organized and take the meals (one
hot – one cold) for each person on their route. These meals are prepared and packaged
by St. Vincent’s Nutrition Program under strict dietary supervision. We
accommodate almost every diet plan.
Each driver then proceeds along their well-diagramed route to deliver
to our clients in homes and apartments within the Westwood (90024), Bel Air
(90077), Brentwood (90049), and west Los Angeles area (90025,90064). Last
year over 40,000 meals were served. Instant
gratification is our reward when the door opens. If these meals were not delivered, our clients would not
be able to live at home. They
cannot manage to shop, prepare food and clean up for themselves. Our clients
are charged $6.00 a day for the two meals. This fee only partially covers our costs, however, no one
is turned away because of lack of ability to pay. |
